Now, one year later I understand why the radio was full of wrong covers. They were hints to what to look for on discogs! That was the invitation to join the weird secret society! Over and over they were sent, I thought the hints were the marked songtitles on iTunes. Well, that could also have been – meant as personal messages. But on the meta level, this was about them wanting me to join the system. And because I refused the love bombing turned into special gangster treatment.
The rule is there. Just listen to CBS on ifm.
THOSE WHO KNOW DO NOT SPEAK. THOSE WHO SPEAK DO NOT KNOW.
I spoke, I told people and that was the reason why I am a target now.
Discogs is the main tool. They have their own rules there. I guess the rules of the Italo System are something like this.
- Number of submissions / rankpoints equals power.
- It is not allowed to add runouts for precious records, especially if there exist represses.
- If someone asks the wrong questions, use whataboutism.
- If a user is making edits that disturb their messaging system, make a forum post and gang up with many against one. Then it is very important to know and absolutely comply with the official Discogs rules.
- Make a mess. Make minor edits on random releases. Back in 2015 most releases were rated correct, so when you open a page, on the top right corner it would say “Data correct”. The correct votes disappear if edits are made. Now, many releases have “Needs Votes”. In other words, it is not clear if the presented data is correct or not. With too many releases that need votes it is easier to hide releases that should not be checked by people outside of the Italo System.
The big problem in this whole story is the miscommunication. I easily understood ‘talking with music’, but I didn’t understand the part about the Discogs messaging system. It took me a pretty long time. In the beginning I thought, they do it only occasionally as powerplay, to show me how much they know about me. I tried to establish what I consider normal communication, words and such. That’s why I started this blog in the first place. Now it has become my personal diary.
Back in October when I changed the name of the blog for the third time and made it private I somehow already knew that the major problem in this story is miscommunication. Hence the name ‘whenplanetsmeet’. We live on different planets.
