Six weeks after I woke up in a strange new world I went to my home town for a week. It was about time to take a break from the radio and spend time with my dad and meet up some old friends.
On saturday night I was at the place of P. and S., we had barbecue and drinks and other friends came over. As always, P. listened to ifm. This night we listened to the Disco Fetish channel.
I had listened to that channel since 2013, many many times and all day long. It was my one and only radio. In 2014 I worked on a huge construction site and we had very long working hours. We worked from 8 am to 8 pm, sometimes 9 pm. The days were usually structured like this; from 8 am to 2 pm I was running around on the site to help the workers with their questions and checking their work and after 2 pm I had to do office work. That was when I listend to ifm in the background and every song I liked I collected in an e-mail which I occasionally would send myself to checkout on discogs later. Mostly the songs just ended up in my wantlist as in “save for later”. I did that for about a year and after that year the wantlist was huge. During this time I learned to know the ifm catalogue.
That night something was different with the Disco Fetish. It played many songs I knew from the Disco Magic Radio. I was confused and blamed it on the cocktails P. was serving.
I stayed over night and went back to my Dad’s house the next morning. It was a lovely spring morning, so I walked around a bit to a further bus station where I sat down and had to wait for a while for the bus. I thought a reality check could help and opened the ifm Disco Fetish. After two songs or so I heard IF’s voice saying “why don’t you go to your other podcast?” overlayed over the music that was playing. Creepy. And then ifm played some songs I didn’t like so yes, I went to the other podcast and had another Disco Magic Radio show telling me with songs how pretty and great I am.
